Public White River Integrated Water Initiative - Public Meeting May 22nd @ 6:00 PM - Meeker Firehouse
Thank you for the interest you have shown in the White River. The White River Integrated Water Initiative is pleased to present the results of our 3 year water study. Dr. Ryan Bailey has developed a water model that explores the relationship between the current uses of water on the main stem of the White River. We hope to use this model to help understand the likely outcomes of changes to the current water use. These changes include--drought, reduced diversions, river administration. Please join us on May 22, 6 pm at the Meeker Firehouse to hear Dr. Bailey present his findings. We would like to hear your feedback. The local community understands the river, we want to know if there are scenarios you would like to run, is there anything we missed.... We want to hear from you!!!
What’s in Store for the White River? Come Find Out!
Curious about the future of water in the White River Valley? Join us for an important community event on Thursday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Meeker Fire Protection District.
Dr. Ryan Bailey, Civil and Environmental Engineering professor at Colorado State University, will present the results of a groundbreaking multi-year water study led by the White River Integrated Water Initiative. This effort was made possible in collaboration with the Colorado River District and the Yampa/White/Green Basin Roundtable.
Over the past three years, the Initiative has partnered with local residents to collect on-the-ground data and community input. These insights helped Dr. Bailey build a detailed water model that examines how current water uses—such as irrigation—impact river flows. It also explores how future changes like drought, land use, irrigation practices, or administrative decisions could affect the White River in the years to come.
Whether you’re a rancher, business owner, outdoor enthusiast, or simply care about the future of our community, this is an evening you won’t want to miss.
Let’s come together to learn, ask questions, and shape the future of our river.
